We’ll discuss how these natural remedies work and what ingredients you can use to make them yourself. Hopefully, by the end of this article, you’ll have some ideas about how to better manage your oily skin at home.

1) Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a natural home remedy that helps you get rid of acne fast. It even promotes new skin cell growth, encouraging your body to heal itself. Plus, it’s packed with antioxidants and other vitamins, making it an excellent addition to your overall skincare routine.

Mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1 teaspoon each honey and fresh lemon juice and apply on acne-affected areas at night. Leave on overnight and rinse off in the morning.

If you have sensitive skin, add 1⁄4 cup water to dilute mixture first before applying it. You can also use 2% milk instead of water if you prefer. Follow up with a toner afterward for optimal results!

2) Lemon Juice

A natural bleaching agent and astringent, lemon juice has been proven to help treat oily skin naturally. The citric acid helps tighten pores and reduce excess oil production on your face. Try dabbing some juice from a fresh lemon directly onto your face as soon as you wake up in the morning before adding any other products to your routine. Using freshly squeezed is always best but bottled works in a pinch.

If you have sensitive skin or are concerned about color changes in clothing, be sure to wear an old t-shirt over your pillowcase while using lemon juice overnight! This remedy can be used once or twice a week depending on how dry your skin is.

3) Honey

Honey is a powerful natural remedy that has been used since antiquity to fight acne. It contains antibacterial properties, and it's a humectant that attracts moisture to your skin while moisturizing it at deeper levels. Simply take some honey, warm it slightly so it spreads easily and apply liberally to your face. Allow it to sit there for 15 minutes before rinsing off with cool water.

If you have sensitive skin, use raw honey instead of commercial honey, as most commercial honeys are processed in ways that denature their healing components. Raw honey is available from health food stores or farmer's markets.

4) Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil contains several substances that will kill bacteria that cause acne, including terpinen-4-ol and alpha-terpineol. It also works as an anti-inflammatory to reduce redness and swelling of blemishes. If you’re struggling with how to get rid of oily skin naturally, tea tree oil can be a good place to start. You should dilute tea tree oil before applying it to your face (1 part tea tree oil: 9 parts water). Apply it with a cotton ball once or twice daily until symptoms improve.

5) Rose Water

Rose water is considered a natural home remedy because it's gentle on your skin and can cleanse your face without leaving behind any residue. It also helps to regulate your oil production and decrease inflammation in your skin. To use rose water as a facial toner, mix two teaspoons of raw, unfiltered honey with half a cup of rose water. Let it sit overnight, then apply to your face after washing.

The honey will act as an antibacterial agent and protect you from breakouts. Rosewater is mild enough that even those with sensitive skin can use it daily without irritation. Just be sure to avoid getting rosewater in your eyes!

6) Baking Soda

Baking soda is one of those natural remedies that’s so simple and easy to use, it’s no wonder so many people swear by it. Baking soda is naturally alkaline and can help balance out skin that tends toward oily by keeping excess oil at bay.

Simply make a paste with water and baking soda, then apply to your face with a washcloth or your fingers. Leave on for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm water. You should notice clearer, more even-toned skin right away. You can do this two or three times per week to see results quickly!

7) Egg Whites

Egg whites are a natural remedy for oily skin. With just 2 tablespoons of egg white, you can make a powerful face mask that will help tighten and shrink enlarged pores. Along with egg whites, combine 1 teaspoon of aloe vera gel, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and 3 teaspoons of oatmeal to create an amazing home remedy.

8) Grapefruit Seed Extract

Home remedies are always an appealing option, but if you have oily skin, your remedies may need to double as treatments. If you don’t want to turn to products with harsh chemicals, try grapefruit seed extract. The compound in grapeseed extract helps balance out your natural oil production and reduce excess sebum.

You can find it at most health food stores; just be sure that you get a product that has extract in its name (some brands only use actual grape seeds) and that it's made from seeds with no other ingredients added. Use a small amount of grapefruit seed extract on your face or body each day; make sure it doesn't come into contact with any open wounds or irritated areas.

9) Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has been used as a natural medicine since antiquity. According to WebMD, it helps balance out oily skin by keeping pores clear and reducing excess oil production. Use aloe vera gel as a topical ointment by applying it directly to skin.

You can also add pure aloe vera juice to your daily skincare routine; simply pour a few drops onto clean skin after cleansing but before moisturizing and use it as an effective face mask several times per week (be sure to dilute with water if using on sensitive or dry skin).

10) Milk and Flax Seed Powder

The combination of milk and flax seed powder helps to lighten your skin. In addition, it also prevents acne on your face. Just mix one tablespoon of milk with two tablespoons of flax seed powder and apply it to your face. Let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing off with cold water. Repeat a few times a week to treat oily skin naturally.
